Being a Widows Son

If I wanted to simply drink and ride, I would have stayed with the HOG.

If I wanted to be clean and sober, I would have joined a MM.

If I wanted to put everything else in life second, I would have joined an MC.

If I wanted to just have a patch I would have ordered it online.

If I wanted to be a part of an affinity group, I would have joined a military association.

If I wanted to be completely free to do whatever I want, I would not join anything.

I wanted to find a place to belong, where my BROTHERS shared the same core values as I, where we could share drinks AND commit ourselves to a common cause, where obligations bound us instead of a check, WHERE WE COULD HAVE COMMITMENT WITHOUT COMPROMISING MORALITY. I found that place and it’s right here. It’s not perfect, but it’s the best thing going. I would never get a HOG tattoo, but I proudly and permanently wear my Widows Sons piece. If we were only about eating and riding, I wouldn’t care so much.
